Endoscopy Technicians
Special Requirements
Endoscopy Techs are not required to earn a certification to work. However, aspiring Endoscopy Techs can earn a certificate of completion from a vocational program or complete an associate's degree program in Endoscopy Technology or Gastroenterology from a community college.
Degree and Certification Options for an Endoscopy Technician:
People interested in the Endoscopy Tech field can enroll in a vocational academic program where they receive hands-on training and earn a certificate of completion. The vocational training program takes about eight weeks to complete and consists of 80 hours of classroom instruction and 200 hours of clinical instruction at a clinic or hospital environment.
Aspiring Endoscopy Techs can also earn an associate's degree in Endoscopy Technology or Gastroenterology from a community college. The associate degree program takes approximately two years to complete, if students attend on a full-time basis. Both types of academic programs teach students about the basic skills in Endoscopy and gastroenterology.
