Color Consultant
Do you have an interest in decorating? Do you enjoy making choices that involve color? Then being a color consultant may be a good job for you. Color consultants work to design color schemes for homes, businesses, hospitals, and work spaces, using their knowledge of how colors can affect people. While most of us assume colors are just colors, color consultants study the affect that colors can have on people’s moods and attitudes. Knowing all they do about color, color consultants are able to choose colors for a space that are appropriate for the purpose of that space. Most color consultants are also interior designers and have both formal and on-the-job training to do what they do. Color consultants help with many different types of projects from wardrobe and cosmetic selections for an individual, to the color scheme for an entire new office building.
To become a color consultant, you should have a good eye for detail, be creative, as well as have an interest and knowledge in how colors affect the moods of people. A bachelor’s degree in interior design or a related field is usually required for this job, and some states require specific licensure.
