Fragrance Chemist
A fragrance chemist helps to develop fragrances for various industries, including perfume, food, cleaning products, and manufacturing. These chemists conduct research to develop scents for various items including household products and cosmetics. Often times, fragrance chemists work in a lab, creating and testing fragrances, and making sure they do not interfere with how well a product works. For example, fragrance chemists have to develop a scent for a cleaning product, without affecting how well the cleaning product does its job. Fragrance chemists must be very familiar with handling chemicals and following procedures in order to prevent injury or damage.
Most fragrance chemists have a bachelor’s degree, or higher, in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related field and have experience working safely in laboratories.
